K.B. Platt, DVM, PhD – Advisor
Dr. Platt is a veterinary virologist with extensive experience in a variety of viruses including PRRSV, Pseudorabies virus and West Nile virus.  He was the first person to suggest the concept of DIVA vaccines in which a subunit antigen is used so that a diagnostic test will differentiate infected versus vaccinated individuals.  

 

Isabel Turney Harris, DVM, PhD – Advisor
Dr. I. Harris is a veterinary epidemiologist and expert in experimental design and statistics.  She has had experience in production and sales of swine biologics for NOBL Laboratories and has consulted internationally for PIC.  Her most recent work has focused on the epidemiology of human food-borne Salmonella of swine.

 

Janice Cunningham, BS – Advisor
Ms. Cunningham has had over 20 years experience in cell culture systems and propagation of animal viruses.  She plays an important role in assisting the current research of Drs. Harris, Erdman and Platt.

 

Patricia Sweeney, JD - Consultant
Patricia A. Sweeney is an intellectual property attorney with over 20 years experience, focusing on biotechnology.  In her private practice she provides intellectual property advice on patent strategy and systems, building and managing patent portfolios, prosecuting national and international applications, providing freedom to operate and state of the art reviews and opinions and consultation on a variety of intellectual property issues. 

Ms. Sweeney prior experience includes seven years at Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc. three of those years as Chief Patent Counsel.  Before that she practiced with a private intellectual property law firm focusing on patent prosecution and litigation.  She was a law clerk to the Chief Judge of the state Court of Appeals and an assistant county attorney.

Her Doctor of Jurisprudence was obtained in 1984, from Drake Law School, with honors and Order of the Coif.  Ms. Sweeney’s degree is from Iowa State University is in Botany and Journalism and Mass Communications.   

 

Ada Mae Lewis, PhD - Consultant
Dr. Lewis is a former employee of the Center for Veterinary Biologics and consults with Sirrah on matters pertaining to USDA regulations and requirements.
